Stopped for one night in Villafranca, Spain on our way to Andorra.
Was quite a long drive but the fantastic scenery diverted our attention from temporal matters, as did the anticipation of staying in an hotel that used to be a monastery. Rykersaurus loved spotting the wind turbines on the hills and after asking us a million questions about them, is now an expert.
The Hospederia de Alesves was a lovely place to stay. Many of the original architectural features were retained in the conversion so the room had sky-high ceilings and arched windows. Importantly though, the amenities were all fresh and modern!
The town itself was very quiet, which could have been due to the fact that it was raining when we arrived but we found the slower pace to our liking after driving all day.
That said, we decided to dine in the hotel restaurant that night and, like the place in Losciano de Alba, we were the sole gourmands! Again, we were spoilt rotten with the exquisite food and wine.
We left early the next day, full of a Spanish-style continental breakfast, ready to tackle the arduous trip up the Pyrenees to Andorra.
