Popular winter sports town, Chamonix – Mount Blanc, was next on the agenda as we travelled further east to Milan. About a two hour drive from Annecy, Chamonix was the perfect lunch stopover.

As we approached the town, the hillside was dotted with little alpine resorts and ‘cuckoo clock’ houses. We all gasped when Mont Blanc came into view due to its sheer size and  snowy white cover – the summit like a scoop of chocolate ice cream drizzled with thick white chocolate. Mmmm…must be time for lunch!

We explored a little before our stomachs took charge and demanded we stop at a cafe for bagels and salad. Which, of course, we did!  Then it was time to say “Au revoir” to France and say ” Ciao” to Italy. Parting is such sweet sorrow…
