With only a few days until take-off, there is still much to do. Despite a reasonable amount of forward planning, the post-it notes are multiplying on the kitchen bench, like some kind of fungus.
Speaking of fun-gi, ours gave me quite a fright the other morning. He was on the sofa reading the Boy’s Book of Spycraft, which he had borrowed from the local library. I left him to it while I cleaned up the kitchen. After a while, Ryker went upstairs for a few minutes and then descended with something in his hand. There was nothing usual about this and in fact, there was no real reason for me to investigate. However, call it mother’s intuition but I went over to said sofa and saw a passport lying there. No need for alarm – just yet. He has an old passport and I was hoping it was this one that was amongst the paper, scissors and sticky tape. Turns out it was his current passport – he was going to make a fake ID using his passport photo! Using a genuine ID to make a fake one, as it were. I quickly grabbed the passport from our Mr Maker and explained that this was a very important police document that we needed to look after, since we wouldn’t be able to go on holiday without it! Disaster averted. Mummy 1, Rykersaurus 0.
