DUBAI – THE ADVENTURE BEGINS

Rykersaurus was pleased to be in Dubai again and relished the opportunity to get out the ‘little camera’ to capture the sights as we walked along the Creek in Deira on our first day.

One of the more interesting sights along the Creek was the Dhow Wharfage, where we saw flat wooden boats or dhows precariously loaded with everything from refrigerators and car tyres to fertilisers and kitchen sinks (really!) These goods are transported to Iran, Iraq, Pakistan and other neighbouring countries.

We also witnessed the roaring water taxi trade – smaller dhows transferring locals across the Creek, Robinson Crusoe style, though  with diesel engines instead of oars.

Although we enjoyed this early morning amble, we didn’t walk for too long for fear we might literally melt in the 44 degree heat.
