Trieste is a beautiful city – full of grand old buildings and marbled town squares where imposing monuments are plentiful. In the previous picture, you can see an art installation on the water – frogs in various positions in various hues! Wonderful. We arrived in Trieste by bus from Croatia, passing through Slovenia on the way. It rained on arrival, however we still managed to explore a little before escaping into one of its welcoming cafes. Once the rain stopped, we headed out again, marvelling at the ancient arcades and other remnants from the past.
We had dinner at a fabulous pizzeria run by three brothers, with el toro themed art works on the walls. Ryker had an enormous Margherita pizza (of course), I had a basil and tomato gnocchi and Jason had a smoked mozzarella, ham and pea tagliatelle, which was incredible (I tasted the sauce!)
We only had one day and night in Trieste however have earmarked it for a return trip sometime in the not too distant future (hopefully!), as we were quite captivated by it.
