In Athens, ruins are everywhere – even in the middle of the National Gardens! These particular ruins are accessible so kids can do as they please on them – hop, skip and jump!
As a case in point, we had lunch one day at a restaurant that ran along the train line; on the other side of the restaurant was an archaeological site. I understand that they had many issues digging the metro line due to the sheer number of antiquities they unearthed during the process. Just beyond the excavation, there was a James Joyce Irish Bar and Restaurant – this Joyce fellow keeps cropping up…
