DUBAI

DUB150629

Rykersaurus visiting his old stomping grounds, or should I say, chugging grounds – he chugged and whistled like a train along the marina on our last big trip two years ago.

Getting to Dubai from Athens was another interesting journey (or three) for the Rykersaurus.  Leaving our Hydra hotel, we hauled our luggage across the cobblestones – click, clack, click, clack – and headed to the busy port. After a quick café freddo, it was another Flying Cat ride to Piraeus port in Athens. Then a wait in the searing heat for the bus to the airport. The bus ride incidentally was free, all public transport being free during this time of financial reckoning (last two weeks, apparently). After an hour-long bus trip on which we thankfully had seats (we didn’t on our last trip and it was a nightmare, which I described in the blog), we arrived at Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport. A final spanakopita (filo pastry filled with spinach and cheese) and it was time to say good bye to Greece and hello to Dubai.
