Collioure Cadets

We saw large groups of cadets or similar being trained in Collioure, mainly in marine pursuits such as paddling and diving.

While having breakfast one morning, we watched some young cadets launch their kayaks into the water, with varying levels of success. We saw at least two cadets slip into the water before they had even started, having lost their footing on the mossy ramp. This was particularly funny as there was a sign right near them, warning that the ramp was very slippery.  By the time the second cadet slipped, there was a large group of people watching on the bridge above. It was very hard not to laugh!

On another occasion, the Rykersaurus was amused by one kayaking duo that seemed to lose control over their vessel, being quite a few metres away from the rest of the group – and heading in the opposite direction! Nothing that a bit more training won’t fix…
