In this photo, our plates are empty – they would not stay that way for long and nor do they ever remain that way in Greece! In fact, every time we come, we are astounded by the hospitality and it seems to be more extreme (in a good way!) each time we come.
On our second evening, we chose a restaurant by the sea with a perfect view of the sunset. After ordering too many dishes to start with – we wanted to sample everything – and feeling pretty satisfied (read: beyond full), we asked for the bill. We had forgotten however about the Greek hospitality, which in this case meant not one complimentary dessert but two and a bottle of the local fire water aka raki! So, after chowing down on a huge plate of cherries and watermelon, we were presented with a platter containing 10 doughnuts and three scoops of icecream! I am not kidding – the plate of doughnuts was enormous and although delicious, very difficult to finish! The raki was left to Jason…
