Rykersaurus at Millau Viaduct
Left our picturesque fishing village fully clothed and headed for Vorey, which was to be our overnight stop on the way to Annecy.
T’was another day of steep climbs, winding roads, rocky cliffs and sheer drops (as well as terror). As always, I was happy when we reached the high flats. I was also glad we weren’t negotiating the sharp bends in a campervan , which were plenteous on our undulating journey.
A highlight (literally) was crossing the River Tarn on the Millau viaduct, which is a magnificent cable-stayed bridge that was opened at the end of 2004. It was constructed to ameliorate the ever-increasing traffic problems, particularly in summer when the roads are jammed with holiday-makers. In typically organised French fashion, there is a picnic area and paths to the bridge to cater for tourists and a huge gallery dedicated to ‘all things bridge’, which includes a cafe. Had some delicious (and somewhat hilarious) conical-shaped vegetable wraps.
Drawn in by its charming bridge, we stopped later on that afternoon for a coffee and snack at a leafy cafe in St Enimie. There were a few other tourists there too – obviously the town had cast its spell over them as well. Rykersaurus feasted on a chocolate crepe, having developed a taste for them in Carcassonne.
Towards the early evening, we arrived at our final destination, Vorey, a tiny village selected as a bit of a midway point between Le Grau and Annecy, our next destination. Being fairly late in the day, we unloaded our bags in the hotel (Les Rives D’Arzon) and had a look around. As per its name, the hotel was right on the river , which was a lovely setting. Our allocated room was enormous, which gave us some space to re-pack a bit and the massage chair helped untangle our driving muscles.

Amazing !!! Ryker look so so happy 🙂 Keep Up !
